Obverse |
6 ∙ - Feb ∙ / 1886 [in blackletters]. The crested coat of arms of the Vienna Künstlerhaus, featuring a lion’s head as the crest. To the right of this stands a woman facing left. In her right hand she holds a jester’s staff, and her left hand rests on the coat of arms. Along the edge are two converging wreaths and scrollwork in the corners. |

A seated woman in a full-skirted dress with ruffles, her head turned to the right. In her right hand she holds an open book and in her left hand a fan. Behind her stands a man in Old Dutch attire wearing a feathered hat. He has placed his right hand on the woman’s shoulder and in his left hand he holds a palette, a brush and a painting stick. In the background, on the left, is an easel with a painting, and on the right, a stool with a scroll. Around the edge is a surrounding wreath, and in the corners are the three coats of arms of the Vienna Künstlerhaus: painting on the left, architecture at the bottom, and sculpture on the right. |
